FishFest

Elkhart FishFest

Welcome!

Elkhart’s Parks & Recreation, Environmental Center, and Aquatics Biology departments partner to host our annual free fishing clinic at High Dive Park.

The fishing clinic is geared for kids ageas 5+ and features multiple stations where the kids will learn casting, knot-tying, conservation, and so much more to begin their fishing journey.

Welcome!

Our Earth Day event is a free, family-friendly event that celebrates our natural, local environment. This annual spring event includes engaging, environmental educational activities for the whole family and provides free trees for citizens to plant at home and increase our urban canopy.

We are grateful for the support and sponsorships from community organizations, which truly make this event possible.

Details for our 2024 Free Fishing Clinic

Our 2024 Free Fishing Clinic is made up of 5 stations:

  • Safety & Casting
  • Knot Tying
  • Basic Tackle
  • Stewardship

Kids (ages 5+) will learn the basics of fishing at each of these stations. Once they have completed all of the stations, they will receive a free fishing pole (while supplies last) and can stick around the pond to get some experience, or check out live fish from the Elkhart River by our Aquatic Biology department.
